The ANP Book Club

Introducing The ANP Book Club

A fresh way to combine CPD with community.

The ANP Book Club is designed for naturopathic professionals who want to stay inspired, expand their knowledge, and connect with like-minded peers. Through monthly online meetings, we’ll explore a range of texts — from time-tested classics to modern perspectives in natural medicine — with practical insights to support your clinical practice.

We meet online once a month, starting around 6:30pm, usually on a Wednesday or Thursday evening, with short breaks around major holidays. You’ll have time to read and reflect, while still gaining up to 3 CPD-points per book.  Over the course of the year you can meet all your annual CPD requirements through book club membership.

Whether you’re looking to broaden your understanding, stay current with emerging trends, or simply connect with fellow practitioners, the ANP Book Club offers a relaxed but purposeful space to grow, share, and learn together.

How much work is it?

We know life gets busy — that’s why the ANP Book Club is designed to be flexible and manageable.

We now hold one session per month, giving members more time to read, reflect, and stay connected. While we aim to cover around 8 books a year, not every session will focus on a new title. Some months are dedicated to catching up, sharing takeaways, or diving deeper into key topics — so there’s space to breathe.

And if you don’t finish (or even start) the book? That’s okay.

You’ll still get plenty of value from each session through:

  • Group discussion and shared insights
  • Practical takeaways from peers
  • Occasional guest author Q&As
  • Ongoing conversation in our private Facebook group

Is this open to student members of ANP?

Yes of course, the ANP Book Club is open to anyone who loves learning so students are always welcome!

Do I need to practice a certain discipline?

This is open to all types of practitioners whether you are a nutritional therapist, herbalist, homeopath, acupuncturist or health coach. The books will all be relevant to health so we will learn from each other’s specialities and interests. There will be the opportunity to vote on titles that you want to read too!

How do I sign up?

You can enrol at any time on the sign-up link here. Places are limited.

Do I get CPD?

Yes its 3 CPD points per book! Meet your CPD requirements for the year by joining the book club!

Why a Book Club?

The ANP Book Club offers a unique way to grow as a practitioner — through thoughtful reading, professional discussion, and community connection.

Each month, we explore books that span a wide range of naturopathic disciplines — including nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, traditional Chinese medicine, and more. This approach gives you the opportunity to broaden your perspective and deepen your knowledge beyond your primary field of practice.

Reading allows for deeper reflection and ongoing personal development, and when combined with peer discussion, it becomes an even more powerful tool for professional growth.

Here’s what makes the ANP Book Club valuable:

  • Self-paced learning – Engage with the material on your own schedule, with space to reflect and revisit ideas.
  • Stronger understanding – Reading supports better focus and long-term retention of concepts and insights.
  • Diverse clinical perspectives – Books often offer a more comprehensive and integrative view of practice, helping you expand your therapeutic toolkit.
  • Multi-disciplinary exposure – Learn from across the naturopathic spectrum to enhance your whole-person approach to care.
  • Supportive community – Share ideas, explore different viewpoints, and connect with fellow practitioners in a relaxed and engaging setting.

Whether you’re picking up clinical pearls, exploring the roots of natural medicine, or just reconnecting with the joy of learning, the ANP Book Club is a welcoming, enriching space to do it — with others who are just as curious and committed as you are.

What will I get?

Hear from Our Members:

Can I just say….

The ANP Book Club is AMAZING!!

It is such a privilege to get to meet the authors each month on the calls and hear them speak first-hand about their book. It would be great to see more members join each month, because it is an important opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. The diverse range of voices I’ve already heard from has blown me away such as the incredible Dr Chris Chlebowski speaking from his clinic in Oregon(!) to Laura Miller who has written a beautiful cookbook for neurodiverse children.

If I didn’t have the ANP Book Club I’m not sure I would have read any CPD books over the past 6 months, so from that point of view it really keeps me on track and up to date with the latest from the world of natural health! Hope to meet more members at book club soon and Danielle who runs it is a magic person who is doing a wonderful job!

We will be picking out some of our favourite books to read. We’ll also explore brand new titles as they are released. Occasionally we’ll invite an author to drop in on the session. As a book club member you will get to vote on titles and can make title recommendations. Here are just a few ideas we have:

  • Getting Healthy in Toxic Times by Dr Jenny Goodman Dodging Dementia, by Mary Jordan
  • Chronic Fatigue / Long Covid by Sarah Myhill
  • Your Period Handbook by Natasha Richardson
  • Curing the Incurable by Dr Jerry Thompson
  • The Virus and the Host by Dr Chris Cheblowski
  • Toxic Legacy by Stephanie Seneff
  • Digestion, the Key to Good Health by Christine Herbert
  • Turtles All the Way Down Edited by Mary O’Toole and Mary Holland, J.D.
  • Brain Brilliance by Lucinda Miller
  • The Underactive Thyroid by Dr Sarah Myhill
  • Fast, Feast, Repeat by Gin Stephens
  • When the Body Says No by Gabor Mate
